In-House Veterinary Laboratory
Laboratory tests are critical when a pet is sick or injured. They are also a part of routine preventive care, such as heartworm testing, parasite screening, and blood chemistry panels. The faster we get lab results, the better equipped we are to begin treating a pet patient. We perform many lab tests in our state of the art in-house lab so we can access results much faster.
Some of the critical lab tests we perform include:
-
Blood chemistry
Important to how the organs are functioning. -
Blood count
Gauges red and white blood cell count to diagnose illness, anemia, or a possible infection. -
Urinalysis
Insight into kidney function as well as diagnosing diabetes, bladder stones, and infection. -
Infectious disease tests
Testing for parvovirus, feline leukemia, diseases carried by fleas and ticks, canine influenza virus (CIV), etc. -
Parasite screening
Screening for the presence of heartworm disease, ear mites, and internal parasites. -
Thyroid function
Used to rule out hypo- and hyperthyroidism. -
Tissue sample study (cytology)
And many other important tests.
Providing exceptional care for your pet relies on lab diagnostics. We are proud to offer all of the tests required for optimal pet health here at Animal Medical Center.
Outside Veterinary Laboratory
We also use the services of an outside reference laboratory for a number of specialized tests. Samples to be tested are picked up twice daily to ensure timely results. For highly specialized tests we use the services of several university laboratories.
